Default My formula is =IF(B5="B",TODAY(),"")

The formula works fine if the cell contains the Letter B but I would like to
have the same result if I typed B or R . I am not sure if I could nest this
into the formula.

Use the OR function.

=IF(OR(B5="B",B5="R"),TODAY(),"")
