I am trying to add a column to a spreadsheet to change a text field from
yyyymmdd to mm/dd/yyyy. I have typed in the concatenation formula in the formula help boxes and it displays the correct value there. When I exit out of that back to the sheet it puts the formula in the box instead of the value. Automatic calculation is set and I have tried F9. I also went thru the formula error checking which showed no error and opened a watch window, which shows my formula in the value box instead of the formula box. I have also tried to change the formula from a concatenation based on a text field to a simple sum based on two numeric fields (=G2 - H2) and that won't even calculate. I've had this happen before and just gave up, but would like to know why certain sheets just will not calculate. |

I tried adding a new column in the middle and it would not recalculate. I
added a new column at the end and it will recalculate. I got my project done, but would still like to know why this happens... Maybe your cell was formatted as text before you entered the formula. Format as General AND re-enter the formula (F2, ENTER); just
reformatting will not help. Please let us know your results (or lack thereof) -- Kind regards, Niek Otten Microsoft MVP - Excel "walark" wrote in message ... |I tried adding a new column in the middle and it would not recalculate.
