Default Changing a pivot table's data range in Excel 2007

In Excel 2007, I want to modify the data range for an existing pivot table.
I don't know how to do that. When I click inside the existing pivot table to
make it active, the pivot table icon in the ribbon is grayed out and I can't
select it. I can't find the appropriate menu item when I right-click.
