Default Excel Program Error

I have a silly problem in my Excel 2003.
When I click on any cell to write in, the excel consider that mouse hold is
made so it continue selecting cells and doesn't permit me to write or release
the selection even if I press Esc button. So I have to close the excel
application.

Thank you.

You might accidentally be in extend mode (Is there an EXT showing on the
status bar?). Try hitting F8 once to toggle the mode off.

No that is not the case.

I made a repair to Office but no use.

Then I uninstalled and installed it again but the error is still persisting.

If you are using a wheelie-mouse, try tapping the wheel a few times.
