Default $ sign for absolute reference Explanation

Hi,
If you have the $ sign on a reference Sheet1!$A$1 where you paste
a link into another sheet, why does it sometimes not show the data
from the link and you need to press enter over the cell again for it
to work????

Nothing to do with the $ sign, but check Tools/ Options/ Calculation, and
make sure it's set to Automatic, nor Manual.

please give an example of the equation
when you paste
are you in edit mode in the cell?
or do you just have the cell selected?
