A "spell check" for numbers
Hi
I have an excel sheet (template) where I enter numbers. Sometimes the same numbers are entered twice, which is a good thing since it can pick up mistakes if they are compared by the computer. For example: 12345 12354 Can the computer compare numbers that appear similar, somewhat like a spell check? If there is no function, can their be a vba solution for this? Any input appreciated Thanks |

To prevent somebody to enter values twice you can apply a conditional
format to show a red background if the value already exists, for example. If your project is of some significant size - let's say like setting up bank account numbers or ISBN's - then you might consider setting up check digits: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Check_digit [20% of all unchecked human data input is wrong] Regards, Bernd |

Yes. If you are entering the number in coumns A and B as a check, you can
conditional format with formula is =$A1=$B1 to show green and/or =NOT($A1=$B1) to show red. -- David Biddulph "Mike" wrote in message ... Hi I have an excel sheet (template) where I enter numbers.
