Default Cells with formulas won't update unless I click in browser Why?

All of a sudden the worksheets in "My Documents" are not functioning
properly. Cells that have formulas in them that should update automatically
don't update.
For example I have Cell C1 that should be the total of cell A1 - cell B1.
When I enter amounts in cell A1 and cell B1, cell C1 stays at 0.00 unless I
click on cell C1, position my curser with a click somewhere in the formula
bar and hit enter.

The worksheets I access through my C drive are working fine. It's only the
worksheets in My Documents that are affected.

Anybody have an answer?

Try 'Tools' 'Options' 'Calculation' and check 'Automatic' OK

Alan.

Alan,
Thank you very much. I don't remember going in and changing it to manual in
the first place so I never thought to go change it "back". But that is
exactly what I needed.

Excel sometimes seems to develop a mind of it's own and do things like that
all by itself for no apparent reason! I've had several options change
themselves over the years,
