Default Excel opens hyperlinked jpg in IE, no matter what

Hi All!

Before Excel 2003, if I hyperlinked a jpg file to an Excel cell, clicking on
the cell opened the linked jpg file in the default picture viewer. (In my
case it is IrfanView.)
In Excel 2003, the picture opens in Internet Explorer, which makes the whole
process damned slow. (In IrfanView the picture pops up immediately.)

Since I use Excel 2003 something (dunnowhat) happened, and to my pleasure
the hyperlinked jpg-s opened in IrfanView. After I had to reinstall the
computer, and the system went back to opening the pictures in Internet
Explorer.

Does anyone know how can I setup the system in order to open hyperlinked
jpg-s in my default picture viewer?

It is the default software for jpg-s, (actually for all images) in the
folder settings / file types.

Thanks,
Gabriel
