This might also work ..

Put in B1:

=TEXT(TRIM(SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(A1,"(",""),")","" )),"General")

Copy B1 down

Then do a copy on col B,
paste special as values to overwrite col A,
and delete col B
