Default How can I set up a series with letters and numbers together?

I am using Excel 2003. I am trying to set up a series of claim numbers they
look something like this: 0129H01, 0129H02, 0129H03,..., 0129H99. Is there a
fast way for me to create a series in excel for this list of claims instead
of just entering them all in one by one?

Enter the first two entries
Highlight the two entries
Drag the little square (at the bottom right of your selection) down to as
many is needed
Excel should continue the series you started.

Nommer

A kind of shortcut to Sloth's method.

Enter the first entry in a cell.

Right-click and drag down.

Release button and select "Fill Series"

I used to use this method to fill; however, it is no longer working for me in
Excel 2003. I wanted to auto-fill from 181A to 181Z and entered the first 4
cells. After highlighting cells 181A to 181D and dragging the little square
down, all I received was 181A to 181D in repeats. Can you help please?

They seem to have removed that functionality. They have also removed
the alphabet as a standard list. It works if the number is last, but
not letters.

If it is a frequently used series, you can add it yourself in the
Options:Custom Lists dialog box. Then it will work, but only for that
specific combination. If you have various similar series that you use,
it won't work for them. You'd have to add each series. Maybe that
would be worth it to save time later.

In A1 enter ="181" & CHAR(ROW(A65))

Copy down to A26
