How can I count a record if it contains a date within a date range
This may not be possible given how the data is stored on the spreadsheet, but
here it goes anyway: I do reporting based on capacity, so the first week of the month I can do x# of reports, 2nd week x#, etc. I have a very simplistic list I keep on a worksheet but as volume grows I find myself counting how many reports I have already booked in a given week to see if I can fit one more. And I do this simply by reading down the column and counting. I know very sophisticated system. :-) So I want to know if I can count how many entries in a range "contain" a date that falls within the first week of the month, the second, etc. The data on this column is basically the customer name and due date all in the same cell. And each column is one month of the year. Column A is the requestor's name as this is only done for our sales reps which is a finite number and they will have multiple requests in a given month. ex: August06 Column companyA 8/16 companyB 8/5 companyC 8/23 companyD 8/5 companyE 8/22 Is there a formula that will tell me how many in week 1, how many in week 2, or do I need to structure my data differently? I probably should figure out a db to do this as this project's aim is to do between 100-300 reports per month in a year. I'll take any suggestions. -- Hile |
