Hi Jagfan,

I didn't understand it fully. Do you mean when you format a cell, say
making it bold, and it makes the positive number negative and vice
versa?

Formatting does not change the value in a cell, merely how it looks.

However, you can achieve what you are trying to do by entering -1 into
a blank cell. Select that cell and click <copy then highlight all the
cells you wish to change and click Edit | Paste Special | Multiply
(check) then OK and <Esc.

Go to: Format, Cells, Category Custom find a format mask that looks like
what you want. The first format is for positive numbers, the second for
negative. Switch the format for positive and negative numbers. Play around
with them until you find what you want. For more choices, type "custom
number formats" into Help.
