Default Invisible precedent lines. The system draws them but I can't see t

How do I turn them back on? I know they are there because I see the worksheet
icon for off-sheet references, and the cursor changes to an arrow where I
would expect the line to be.

Is there any way to format their appearance, or is that (when I can see it)
blue line hard-coded into the system?
