Default Have to use cursor keys cannot use mouse in excel when linking fo.

When linking one cell to another with a = formula in a different workbook I
cannot use the mouse to select the cell to link to. I get a symbol of a hand
not a normal mouse pointer and I have to select the cell to link to with the
cursor keys. Very annoying when your linking loads of budget workbooks. Any
ideas. This is Excel on a laptop running XP.
Thanks
