I created a file with macros using VBA in XLS and saved it in XLSM to reduce
the file size. Now, when I try to convert it back to XLS, excel stops
working and takes about 5 minutes to resolve (shut down). I have downloaded
a 3rd party party conversion app (softinterface) and it encounters an
unexpected error.

The primary users of this program will be running Windows XP/2003 OS and so
it is critical that I convert it to XLS.

Is there a way to convert a XLSM file back to XLS while preserving it's
macros?

Any help that any of you could give me would be wonderful! This is an urgent
non-profit app that is set to be sent out to Africa in the next day or two.

While still in xl2007, did you save as an .xls file?

If the macros were written using xl2003 they would work in 2007 and many,
but NOT all 2007 macros will work in 2003. Sorting, etc is an exception. If
desired send your file to my address below and I'll take a look.
