Default trouble with countif

I have a cell on a sheet that counts a select row for a letter
(=COUNTIF(I8:AM8,"T") ) it works great on most of the cells in the selection
but a few dont and i cant figure out why...I checked the formatting and they
-seem- to be all formatted as 'general' with nothing special attached...help

hi
are there any unknown characters in the cell like spaces?
try the formula with a wildcard and see what happens..
=COUNTIF(I8:AM8,"T*")
