Default Sort and create a Table of one column of dates

I have only one column of dates that runs to 10000 cells. Each cell has a
company name that ranges to 3000 different names.

Is there a way to create a table (next to the first column of data) which
list the company name with reference to number of times its present?

Like.

ABCD Company
TOM company
Asdf company
Xyz company
TOM company
TOM company
TOM company
TOM company
Xyz company
Xyz company
Xyz company
Xyz company
Xyz company
Asdf company
Asdf company
Asdf company
ABCD Company

The result I need is

ABCD Company 2 times
TOM company 5 times
Asdf company 4 times
Xyz company 6 times

Please help..

PS. I am using Excel 2007

Use a Pivot Table:

You set it up as Count of customers by customer
