show me how to sum a range of cells.

I would also like to name that range and the cell that the sum total
of that range.
I can base a known range on the sheet name with

ThisWorkbook.Names.Add Name:=Worksheets(1).Name + "_data", _
RefersTo:="=$A$1:$C$10", Visible:=True

How would I use Rick's idea and also name the ranges?
