Default are there skins available for excel?

I am not a programmer. Is there an easy way to change the appearance of a
worksheet so it looks more like custom program and not an excel worksheet? I
would like to have most of the cells be a single color with none of the grid
lines.

If you have a menu bar with your excel version...
Select the data area and go to Format | AutoFormat
and pick one of the displayed options.
