Then no, you can't freeze some columns while others scroll in the way I
think you originally meant. However, if you were interested in "freezing" a
small number of rows in, say, the first 4 columns, you could split the
screen and maybe that will suffice for what you want to do. Try this and
see. Let's say you wanted to "freeze" the range A1:D5... click into cell E6
and then click Window/Split on Excel's menu bar. You can now scroll the
bottom half of the grid either horizontally or vertically and the panel in
the upper left corner (showing the range A1:D5) will not scroll. Does that
do what you want?

Hi Rick,

I am actually trying to scroll vertically..

You don't say in which direction you want to scroll, so the answer to
your
two questions might be No and Yes (in that order). If you are talking
about
scrolling horizontally, you can freeze the first 4 columns so they don't
move while the other columns are scrolled into view, but you can only
freeze
the first so many columns on the left. To do this, in Row 1, click on the
first column you want to allow to scroll (for your example, you would
click
into cell E1), then click on Window/Split or Window/FreezePanes on
Excel's
menu bar. Now when you scroll the columns, the first four columns will
not
scroll.
