Default ADO to XLSX file from Excel 2003

Does any know if its possible to use ADO to get data from an XLSX or XLSM file
when the macro is run from Excel 2003? In other words will the
MICROSOFT.ACE.OLEDB.12.0 provide work from Excel 2003?

Thanks
