You don't need a macro; you can do it with formulas:
In the column to the right (say B2), enter
=LEFT(A2,FIND(" ",A2)-1) and fill down
in C2, enter:
=MID(A2,FIND(" ",A2)+1,255) and fill down.
Then select B2:C100 (or as far as necessary), Edit/Copy, Edit/Paste Special
and click Values.
Finally, Delete the stuff in column A, shifting cells Left (or Copy what you
just pasted, and paste again onto A2).
