Default WHEN networked file is accessed in VB, get 'program error'

Excel-97:

When the net worked file is accessed in VB, Get "program error" and excel
program closes.

FYI, have checked and confirmed that the net work computer is switched on
and the file name does exist with the sheets in it in tact.

Already waited anxiously three days for answer for my previous post on
similar matter. Please sugest what could be wrong.

Please define "access in VB" by including some sample code.
