Default Excel Macros Tie Up Computer

I've written an Excel Macro that sequentially opens source workbooks in a
selected folder on an external server, copies data from the source workbook
into another workbook, closes the source workbook and saves the new workbook
each time. I've had issues where the macros just stop when I use
Communicator 2005 and a colleague tells me that he can't use anything on his
computer when they are running. Has anyone seen this problem and how do you
get around it?

Thanks,
Barb Reinhardt
