Default SQL.REQUEST in Excel 2002 not supported in 2007. What is new func

In Excel 2002 you could use the add in function SQL.REQUEST to access
external data and use dynamic prompts from data entered in Excel cells.
This functionality is not support in more recent versions of Excel. Was this
functionality replaced with another feature or how can I get at external data
using somewhat dynamic prompts? I do not want users having to modify Import
queries. Thanks for any help
