Default xlCurrentPlatformText

What kind of file type is this, appears to be a Tab delimited file? What
dictates the platform? operating system, regional settings? If the platform
changes, what changes in the output file type? Would it go from 8 bit to 16
bit unicode text, or maybe some other format like doublewide or something?

When recording a macro doing a SAVEAS (tab delimted text file) the macro
records using xlText which has the same constant as xlCurrentPlatformText
(-5158).

Thank you so much for your assistance.
