Shared Workbook - Slow opening of shared workbook.

Hi.. I was wondering if someone could help me. In my department,
about 5 people use and access a shared workbook that contains macros.
When the file is not shared, it operates perfectly fine. However,
once shared, the file can take approximately 2 minutes to open. While
opening you can see "Calculating Cells: 100%" on the lower left of the
screen. The message will stay there for approximately 2 minutes while
excel is frozen. Anyone know how to remedy this?

Thanks....

Hi Raul,

Change the calculation mode to manual from Tools--Options--Calculation
this will help you open the file quick. First of all remove the share of the
file. Then change the calc mode, save the file and then share once again.

With this the file will open quickly, however users will have to hit F9 etc
to calculate the changes.

Thanks for the advice.. I actually realized that what was causing the
delay was that I had "Print Settings" and "Filter Settings" checked ON
in the Share Workbook/Advanced tab under 'Include in Personal View."
Now that have them unchecked, I have the shared workbook running with
Automatic Calculation (which I need) and with really hardly any delay
in opening. I did notice that running Manual calc elimiamted the
problem as well. So your point is also quite valid. Thanks again for
the help.
