Default Sum using r1c1 style

Numbers in A1:A5
In C3 I had =SUM(A1:A5)
When I switch to R1C1 style this becomes =SUM(R[-4]C[-2]:R[-1]C[-2])
R[-4] means 4 rows above current cell; C[-2] means 2 columns to left of
current cell, etc.
Any help?

Default Sum using r1c1 style

ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "=Sum(R1C1:R10C1)"

If you mean in VBA, you can use

Activecell.Value = Application.Sum(Range(cells(1,1),Cells(10,1)))

the row column references are like absolute R1C1 - but you can't literally
use R1C1 addressing

You can take a look at the Application.FormulaConvert function
