Creating a PRN file from Excel
Hi
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. I'm working on a project right now that involves having a user enter in a Journal Entry into an Excel spreadsheet, and then having the spreadsheet process it and output a prn file. The prn file will then be imported into SCT Banner. This is especially useful for large Journal Entries, as it significantly cuts down on keying and the associated time lost and errors created. SCT Banner expects to get a file wherein each 'column' of data is left aligned and comes with trailing spaces to fill up the column. My problem is that Excel chops off all trailing spaces, without regard for whether it is part of a column that has data or is a blank column altogether. Does anyone know how to create a prn (because SCT Banner does not seem to want to take anything except prn's) that doesn't chop the extra spaces? I have tried throwing in a character after the specified max range (148), but that seems to throw Banner off as well. Thanks, Dave |
