Default How to retrieve from Excel/VBA the SharePoint (v. 2003) user's ID when he/she is connected to a list

Help please.

Systems/software used: Windows XP, Excel 2003

Not sure if I'm asking the right question. If not maybe you could show
me the right path. I know how to retrieve a network userid via VBA but
was wanting to know if there is a way of identifying the user's ID
by querying the SharePoint site/list they're logged onto/connected to
using VBA?

This is required as not all users may be accessing the sharepoint site
from the same network domain and therefore there network ID may not be
the same as the account used to log-on to the SharePoint server.

Many Thanks

Law
