Are you saving the files as normal workbooks (not .csv files)?
Some posters say that upgrading to SR2 helps. But others have said that it had no effect. If you're not running xl97SR2, you may want to try it. (Help|About MS Excel will show you the release.) EXCEL97 WHY SOMETIMES THE COLUMN WIDTH DECREASES BY ITSELF??
Could be a combination of font size and zoom level and column width within
sheet settings. Differences in monitor screen resolution can also effect it. Mike F "CAPTGNVR" wrote in message ups.com... EXCEL97 WHY SOMETIMES THE COLUMN WIDTH DECREASES BY ITSELF??
Another question...
Any chance that these #### cells contain dates. If yes, then the format of the field could be causing trouble. If the date cell is formatted to show the short date (m/d/yy), then excel will use the windows regional setting to display that field. If the person who created the file had a windows short date format of m/d/yy (like 8/7/07 (no leading 0's or centuries)), and the person who opened the file had a windows short date of mm/dd/yyyy (08/07/2007), then the person who opened the file would see ###'s. Luckily on this ship it is not happening. Like i said it was decreasing by itself on the same comp and there was no date. Only the usual sum of totals etc. But it can be easily seen that a column width of 12 has been reduced to 5 or there about.. So i wanted to find out the reason as that fear is there that once i program then the columns will decrease. anyhow as a safe precaution i hv given a command button to reset columns and written the vb code. |
