Default Hooking up a Cryptographic Hash Function

http://www.tayloredge.com/utilities/...1_VBSource.txt offers an
example of using an SHA1 function with VB. (Note last function on page
references Excel.) I'm trying to learn how to incorporate this function with
an Excel Password in a UserForm textbox. The function(s) are too lengthy to
reproduce here.

Can someone give me a skeleton outline of how I'd incorporate the
sha1(keydata as string, message as string) function to do this? Do I pass
the password entered by user as the keydata parameter or the message
parameter?

Should I use an external file holding the users and passwords and would I
read those string pairs into the function somehow?
