Using an IF statement, or VLOOKUP statement
 

You can only display the result of a formula in a cell: if the result is "G" then it will display "G" (using a "regular" font...)

If you set the font correctly then you might be able to have your formula return the "dot" plus a variable number of trailing spaces
and then use those different return values in a conditional format setup. That will be limited to only 3 colors though.
