Default Check whether appointment time is free in Outlook Calendar

Hi - I am new to this forum but have searched various groups with no luck.

I want to find out whether you can check from Excel whether a speficied
date/time is free in a shared Outlook calendar - I realise you could scroll
through all events in the calendar and test the start/end dates do not
intersect with the appointment date in question, however, this seems very
long-winded...

Does anyone know of a nice neat way to do this in Excel...?

Cheers,
Simon.
