Sort data / items of drop down list
Hi folks,
I am often using drop down lists in Excel and Macro's to ensure correct input. However sometimes the following issue occurs without me finding a solution for it. Normally you would expect that if the data from your dd list is alphabetically sorted and the drop down list opens at the first alphabetical drop down item when you open the cell from blank. In some cases it is, in some cases it is not. In some cases the dd list opens at the back of the list. Note that in all cases the range with the dd list data is sorted alphabetically but often behaves differently from one dd list to another. What could be the reason there? How to determine that each time the dd list should open with the first sorted from the dd list range. (Either in Data validation or in a Macro) Of course if an item in the list was selected before and the dd list is reopened, the first item should be the one which was selected before. Note that in many cases an autofilter is installed on top of the page Many thanks for your help upfront |
