If you already have the outline/subtotals/autofilter applied, you can protect
the worksheet in code (auto_open/workbook_open??). Option Explicit Sub auto_open() With Worksheets("sheet1") .Protect Password:="hi", userinterfaceonly:=True '.EnableOutlining = True .EnableAutoFilter = True End With End Sub It needs to be reset each time you open the workbook. (excel doesn't remember it after closing the workbook.) If you're new to macros, you may want to read David McRitchie's intro at: http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/getstarted.htm dilettante wrote: I am using a workbook with some autofilter on many columns If I use them I am not able tho show again all adata without unprotecting the sheet. Dave,
thank you for answering. The question is that I will have the worksheet protected while removing autofilter results by menu Excel/Data/AutoFilter/ShowAll. I will try to better understand your listing. data|filter|showall will still be disabled when you protect the worksheet this
way. Maybe you could provide an equivalent macro that does the same thing. dilettante wrote: Dave, thank you for answering.
