Default "IF" Statements with buttons

Hello. I want to be able to have a check box or toggle
button and then want to do an "IF" statement based on if it is true or
false. I have tried several ways and it will not point to the true.

I have tried.
if(B8="true",,)
if(B8=true,,)

Can someone tell me how to have my formula cell tell me if the button
is on or off? Thanks
