Default colouring in bars on a chart to correspond to quartiles

Hi, I was wondering if anyone know if it is possible to colour code the bars
in a column chart corresponding to their value, i.e. in my case I want the
upper and lower quantiles to be different colours. Would this involve
evaluating the value of each point in the chart and coluring it, or would it
involve collecting calling each range as a seperate series and adding them
on. I am at a complete loss with this one and any suggestions would be
gratefully received. Many thanks.
