Hi Harry,
Who exactly is Tom Ogilvy? Perhaps the most prolific and most respected contributor the NG. Perhaps, more interestingly, who is Stella who now appears in the guise of Harry? --- Regards, Norman "Stella" wrote in message ... Who exactly is Tom Ogilvy? All that was needed was to add the word "Loop" to the front of "until bFlag =

Who exactly is Tom Ogilvy?
Well, it is very easy to find out. Not sure if this is compiled somewhere, but he is probably the one that gets the highest percentage answers exactly right in one go. Here are the posting Statistics. Kinda fun to see who is posting the most. I
spend probably about an hour a day at posting and I barely even rank compared to some... It makes you wonder if Tom ever sleeps or if he is just here 24/7... http://www.contextures.com/xlngstatsAnnual.html By the way Tom if you are smoking anything can you share... Whatever it is I'm sure it must be good. PS. Stella you kinda got jumped on a bit hard but take it with a grain of salt. Next time you are unhappy with the quality of a response just ask for some clarification. I can say that the calibler of the people responding here is excellent. Do they make mistakes sometimes... Absolutely... but in general they know their stuff and can get you through some might tricky problems. -- HTH... Jim Thomlinson "RB Smissaert" wrote: Who exactly is Tom Ogilvy? It would be even more interesting to split the statistics in answer- and
question- postings. Also would nice to show a longer list ... RBS "Jim Thomlinson" wrote in message ... Here are the posting Statistics. Kinda fun to see who is posting the most. I just started coming to this NG about 1.5 years ago, learning VBA
almost from scratch. I've gotten incredible help here from a number of people, and I've found this to be one of the best NGs of any kind that I frequent. I can tell you this, when I see a reply to my question, or anyone elses, from Tom Ogilvy, I'm very confident that not only is it a correct answer, but that it's a very sophisticated answer. Tom knows XL as well as anyone here, and knows how to write effective, fast-running code. I understand that his solution might be more complex than you expected, he's taking into account factors you and I haven't even dreamed of yet. Most likely, his code will run in situations where the simple fix you imagined won't work. If he's smoking anything, I'd like to get my hands on some! :) Peter T wrote: Perhaps rather more detail than you expect ! http://netscan.research.microsoft.com/ Regards, Peter T "RB Smissaert" wrote in message ... And, Tom always treats others, from novice to expert, with respect. Most people here do that, but occasionally... Not Tom... he always takes an approach that says others can learn. Thanks. |

pay them for it, I don't make them do it, I guess it's just what they love to do. I always feel greatful for all the Tom Ogilvies in my life. Thank you all guys for being there... I disagree. I think that "Stella" was expecting a simple answer like
Worksheets("sheet2").Printout and didn't understand that the loop example was just that...an example! Tom's answers are always right on, and he even goes the extra mile to explain more than necessary. In this case the OP simply didn't get it. No need to think he/she was trying to start a fire. Just trying to learn like the rest of us. "Finny" wrote: Just keep in mind that "Stella" is probably enjoying the flames he/she has sparked. |

I've never seen anyone be so discourteous to someone who tried to help them, never mind start a new thread with the specific intention of denigrating that person, never mind target an individual who just happens to be the most dedicated and one of the most talented guys on the internet, never mind base their criticism on a misunderstanding (i.e. get it wrong).
