Hi all, Thought you might be interested in a new site I have just launched, devoted to showcasing the best in Userform design. Check it out he http://www.userformgallery.com Cheers, Scott. With respect Scott, the first thing I read on your site was you advocating that we bin default grey forms for your choice of what looks pretty. Two problems with this. Firstly your resulting multicoloured form looks great to you but awful to me. Secondly, there's nothing I can do about it. At least I can change the default gray of 3D objects using Windows control panel if I want to, with your choice of colours, I'm stuck with them. First rule of UI design - don't screw around with the user's preferences, they will hate you for it. In addition, I notice that you have gone for bold capitalised labels. Why? This breaks all windows conventions for no reason at all. Finally, I notice that you've left the OK (why webbify it to SUBMIT?) and Cancel buttons in pretty much the same place. The /very first/ thing I would have done would be to have moved them to where Excel's UI designers conventionally put them - /either/ one above the other at the top right /or/ one beside the other at the bottom right. You are dead right that a lot of (most?) Office developers build ugly and user-hostile forms, but I absolutely disagree with many of the points raised on your site so far. Nevertheless, I'll be interested to see how it develops. Rob |

If it was someone else's I'd have plenty of ideas how to improve, but hard to see one's own objectively. If anyone with a good sense of design is up for a serious challenge please contact me! Interesting idea, and whilst I can see that the original was pretty rough,
but mint green as an alternative! I am no style expert, but it doesn't look very appealing to me, but I take the overall points. One problem that you have shown here is the inability to change the multipage tab colour. When you change the page colour, you are left with the grey tabs - not good. Also, I like to keep my borders as small as possible, to keep the form as small as possible. I'll add this to FeedReader and watch for any other interesting topics you raise. Thanks. -- HTH Bob Phillips (replace somewhere in email address with gmail if mailing direct) "UserFormGallery" wrote in message ups.com...
