Not sure why you think this is off topic? You mention that a shell script is not possible, but I'm not sure you would have had any
suggestions to use one... Do you want to do this from within Excel or are you looking for something else? Are you reporting on multiple files or just one? If you want a script then you could use any COM scripting language (javascript/vbscript/python etc) under the Windows Scripting Host. Plenty of examples in past posts. -- Tim Williams Palo Alto, CA "Sam" wrote in message oups.com... Even though this applies to excel, it might be slightly off topic. But this can't be that uncommon a problem, so I'm hoping someone has already invented this wheel..... I need a report with this: 1)Name of spreadsheet 2)Total rows in each spread sheet 3)Total rows on all sheets I know I can do this manually, but to do this manually on a regular basis is impractical. The machine runs under windows, so a shell script is not doable. |
