Hello Everyone:
I am totally new to this so I need some help. I just took over a job where the previous gentleman used lot of macros. All the macros are stored in his personal.xls folder, which I guess is the hidden folder that opens up when excel is opened up. I would like three other users on our network to have access to the same macros. How can I give them access to the macros? In other words, when the other users open their excel, I would like for the macros to be available in their macro pull down menue. FYI: Our network has one server and 4 users connected to it. VERY SIMPLE, "home like" setup. Thank you in advance for your help. Regards, IK |

Are you running a network version of excel? Whether or not you are
sometimes impacts where personal.xls is stored. Go to your excel startup folder (to find out where this is go to tools, then on the general tab look at startup folder). Find personal.xls. Copy it. Then put it on the server for the others to grab. Then have them copy and past that personal.xls over their own personal.xls file (unless they have their own macros recorded, in which case you would copy the code instead, if this is this case let me know and I can detail more instructions). Hope that helps. |

Brian, Thank you for your help.
I copied my personal.xls with all the macros in it and then i tried to go paste it over my colleauges "personal.xls" file but we could not find his PERSONAL.XLS file on his machine. We did a search with hidden files included but no luck. Then we also followd the exact same directory path as mine to locate the file but could not find it. so we could not paste my file (personal.xls) over his. However, we double clicked on my "personal.xls" after pasting it in my colleauges C drive, he was able to access all the macros. However, if we don't click on the "personal.xls" after starting excel then those macros are not available. Unlike on my machine, whenever I start excel those macros are always available. Can you please help so whenever my colleauge opens excel then the macros are always available without him having to open the "personal.xls" file that we pasted on his C drive? Thank you very much for your help. Regards. IK |

Did you look in tools to see where his startup location is? If he
doesn't have one you may need to enter a location to get Personal.xls to be created for the first time. |

Ok, but those folks can't access the personal.xls file and use that one
file? instead of pulling it down to their machines? Don "Brian Taylor" wrote in message ups.com... Are you running a network version of excel?
