Default forms toolbar vs. control toolbox

I'm doing my best to learn more about using contols in excel. I'm trying to
figure out when to use the forms toolbar and when to use the control
toolbox.

Lets say I make button 1 using the forms toolbar and button2 using the
control toolbox.

a) can I use event procedures with button 1?
b) button1 runs a macro that users can also run by using a keyboard
shortcut. Button2 has code in its click event. Can I also use keyboard
shortcuts to run this code?
c) are there any general guidelines as to when to use which type of button?
Where?

d) WHY ARE THERE... sorry ... Why are there two systems for making
controls?

thank you
anny
