Does anyone know of any algorithms which produce all the possible
combinations of patterns within a string?

Example String = ABCDE

AB, AC, AD, AE, BC, BD, BE, CD, CE, DE
ABC, ABD, ABE, ACD, ACE, ADE, BCD, BCE, CDE
