Default show times vertically?

In a daily work schedule does it matter if you show the times vertically?

e.g.
9:00
10:00
11:00

I was wondering if there is a convention that times are supposed to be shown
horizontally across the page.

I don't think it matters really.
It might have some usability impact depending on how many columns vs. rows
