Default Document Recovery Pane Covers Worksheet

I've got users who are running into a very weird problem. Here's the story:

- They access a mixture of Excel 2002 and Excel 2003 running on a server
using either Terminal Server or Citrix.

- Sometimes a previous user has gotten blown out of Excel and so when they
start Excel in their terminal server/citrix session, they get the Document
Recovery pane. When this happens, they choose to close the pane without
recovering any files. At this point the Document Recovery pane goes away as
expected.

- They then start working with the application which is built using an XLA.

- At some point later in the process usually involving tabbing from
worksheet to worksheet, the Document Recovery pane (sort of) reappears. I
say sort of because its entirely grey background. It has no visible text.
I say its the Document Recovery pane mostly because of its position (at the
far left of the Excel window) and size (tall vertical pane).

The only way we've figured out how to get rid of it is to get cleanly out of
Excel and restart.

I found one previous posting of this problem without conclusion.

Has anybody seen this problem?

Anybody got a solution?

Is there a way to disable document recovery? I'm thinking of a registry
setting that might turn this off on the server.

TIA,

josh
