Default How to calculate time in 1/100 decimal while it is entered 1/60

Entering time in excel to create a time sheet 7.00am start 14.30 finish
would give a figure of 7.30 hrs as worked , actually 7.5 hrs is the hours
worked. How does one achieve this answer

=A1*24, format as Number, not as Time (which Excel will do automatically)

Dear Niek, thanks but I am a novice and did not exactly understand what you
intended.
I entered the following formula IF B1=A1,B1-A1, 24-B1+A1

Where A1 start time B1 is the end time ,
If I enter the time in 1/100 , ie 7.30 am as 7.50 and finish time 3.30 pm
as 15.50 I get the hours worked 8.0 hrs ths multiplied by the hourly rate
of stipend
gives the earnings. If you were to enter 7.30 and 15.30 the answer is wrong.
If you can help would be great. thanks
