Default Auditing protected worksheets

When I protect the sheet, I notice that a user cannot even use trace dependents. To me, this seems silly. Is there anyway to still allow such auditing without having to turn protection off (since they won't be given the password)?

Thanks!
Dean

Don't believe there is any option for this. Did you just protect contents
and try it.

I'm not sure how you do something more austere than "just protect contents",
if indeed I am doing something like that. I just did protect sheet and
checked all the boxes. Kindly explain.

Thx,
Dean
