Default help with a formula for counting


I have numbers in col d and have done
=count(d3:d70) which gives me total of
items but i would like to modify it to only
add 1 if the cell is < 0.
can anybody showme how to do this?

Hi ,

Just change your formula to
COUNTIF(D3:D70,"<0")

i tried it but it did not work. no count was made.

Are you sure there is no confusion between 0, spaces , blanks ...?
