Default Pivot bloat?

I'm in the process of locking down a pivot table to users are restrcted to
processes that keep in the same shape and allow the next user to see all
available data. While writing code to reverse user-hidden PivotItems, I
noticed some old Pivot Item references that no longer exist in the data but
still have a check-box. Is there way to clean up hang-overs from previous
data?

There's information here on clearing old items in a pivot table:

Debra
Thank you. While I've been programming spreadsheets for about five years or
so following some years Access experience, this is my first venture into
controlling pivots with VBA - never could adjust to calling it 'macros'. I
recall drawing knowledge from your site previously (as against pinching code
snippets) but (obviously) didn't recall your pivot tips. Thank you for
making this and other information available.
